الحمد لله وحده، والصلاة والسلام على من لا نبي بعده، سيدنا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه أجمعين
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah alone. Peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and companions.
We begin by thanking Allah Almighty for allowing us to welcome the blessed month of Ramadan, alhamdulillah.
As Imams across Canada, we stand together in serving our communities with wisdom and compassion. While minor differences in observances may exist, they should never divide our hearts. What unites us is far greater—our devotion to Allah, our love for His Messenger ﷺ, and our duty to uplift one another.
While the primary purpose of Ramadan is to build piety and purify our souls, it is also an opportunity to embody the Qur’anic values of justice, kindness, and service.
The Qur’an commands us: “O you who believe! Stand firm for justice as witnesses to Allah, even if it is against yourselves, your parents, or close relatives.” (4:135)
As we begin fasting, we reflect on the struggles of our brothers and sisters in Palestine, Sudan, and all others experiencing fear, suffering, and injustice. Along with our supplications, let us advocate wisely for justice, demand an end to oppression, and contribute to relief efforts.
While we support global efforts, we must also sustain local causes that are vital to our communities.
Financial hardship and economic uncertainty affect many at this time in Canada. Sadly, many are going to sleep hungry. The Prophet ﷺ said: “One is not a believer whose stomach is filled while their neighbor goes hungry.”
Join the Canadian Council of Imams’ #FastFeed Ramadan Campaign by encouraging your masjid to raise funds for local food banks or by donating through Give30.ca. Every morsel provided will be a source of immense reward from Allah, Insha Allah.
اللهم أعنا على الصيام والقيام وتقبل منا أعمالنا، إنك أنت السميع العليم
O Allah, help us with fasting and prayer, and accept our deeds from us. Indeed, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
May Allah ﷻ grant us taqwa (piety), forgiveness, acceptance, and protection from the Fire. May the Qur’an guide our hearts, our communities, and all of humanity. May Allah grant relief to all who are suffering in our communities, our country, and around the world.
