Ramadan 1447 / 2026 Message to Canadian Muslims

We begin by thanking Allah ﷻ for permitting us to reach the blessed month of Ramadan once again, alhamdulillah.

As Imams serving communities across Canada, we stand united in our commitment to serve, guide, and uplift our communities with dedication, wisdom, compassion, and sincerity – in this blessed month and beyond.

While minor differences in observance may exist, they should never divide our hearts. What unites us is far greater: Our devotion to Allah ﷻ, our love for His Messenger ﷺ, and our shared responsibility to strengthen one another.

The differences include the start and end of Ramadan on different days based on valid scholarly approaches. Such differences should be met with patience and mutual respect.

We encourage Canadian Muslims to fast and pray with the clear majority in their locality. Where no such majority exists, they should stand together with their local masjid, choosing unity and harmony in their community. Families, neighbours, and masajid within each locality should endeavour to unite on one approach, whichever it may be.

The primary purpose of Ramadan is to cultivate taqwa and purify our souls. A sincere striving in this blessed month will renew our faith, sharpen our moral clarity, and grant us the spiritual fortitude needed to meet the challenges of the world today, Insha Allah.

Through fasting, prayer, Qur’an recitation, charity, supplications, and service, our hearts are replenished so that we may stand together – upholding truth, promoting peace, advancing justice, and safeguarding moral integrity – for the sake of Allah Almighty, during Ramadan and beyond.

Dedicate yourself to Allah and uplift others to the best of your ability. Be merciful to the creation of Allah, so that Allah may be merciful to you.

May Allah ﷻ grant us taqwa, sincerity, forgiveness, acceptance, and protection from the Fire. May the Book of Allah illuminate our hearts, strengthen our communities, and guide all of humanity. May Allah grant relief to all who are suffering, within our communities, across Canada, and throughout the world.

Ramadan Mubarak!
